Accessibility, user-centred design, and the systems that exclude people.

Welcome, I’m Lani.

In this blog I write about my day-to-day work in design, development and accessibility, and the patterns I notice in how digital products often fail people.

My background is in user-centred design and front-end development, and that’s still where most of my projects sit. Within those specialities, I’ve steered towards accessibility and inclusion, because the human element is the most interesting part of the work.

WCAG compliance is the foundation, not the destination. It’s where great user experiences begin, not just a box to tick at the end. I write about how and why people need the digital world to be more accessible, and how we might change our approach to make that happen.

Please note: This site is still under construction. Working full time with a painful disability leaves little time for passion projects, so please bear with me as I build the architecture at a sustainable pace.
